I found this and felt compelled to defend myself.

I’d like to put on the record that I did this honorable (in my opinion) challenge before blogs were so popular that everyone had one. So the fact that this young man attempted this challenge in 2007, puts him roughly 5-6 years after my attempt.

I say young man but judging by his own website and such, he is probably between 22-35 years old.  He ate ~18 tacos in one hour as a grown man. I ate ~16 at the age of 16.

Who cares? I do. I pride myself on my ideas and I get upset when people show them to more people than I did. Imagine you invented the pet rock, but had no money to market it. Then 5 years later, a rich dude markets the simple idea and makes millions.  This is almost exactly the same scenario. 

Like when I gave up masturbation for Lent 3 years before 40 Days and 40 Nights.

I digress. I’d like to point out that the man’s description and play-by-play is eerily similar to what I felt.  But for almost 10 years, I’ve beat myself up over the fact that I did not complete that challenge.

That is why tomorrow, 12/29/10, I will attempt the challenge once more. Video will be taken. Pictures and testimonies as well. I will conquer the 20 tacos. I have to.
