Top 10 Best Mountain Dew Flavors of All-Time
Mountain Dew is the greatest soda on the planet. With dozens of varieties over the years, these are my top 10 favorite flavors to “dew” (do).
10 - MDX

An energy drink made by MtnDew. Pretty delightful taste, and when the energy drink boom came in the early mid 00’s, this product only survived 2 years.
9 - Throwback

Not that there’s anything wrong with high fructose corn syrup (in moderation, of course), but tasting Mountain Dew with natural cane sugar is a pleasant sentiment to the NASA employees who would drink this while landing people on the moon. (not accurate)
8 - Game Fuel: Horde Red/LiveWire

Mtn Dew released “Game Fuel” in support of the poor, socially inept souls who spend dozens of hours playing video games. Three “Game Fuel” flavors were released - 2 for World of Warcraft and one very limited flavor for Halo 3. Horde Red and LiveWire taste almost identical to each other, but LiveWire I can only seem to find during the summer months.
7 - Diet Mountain Dew

Ain’t nothing like the original diet version of the original! Mountain Dew is tasty, but why not have the same taste with no calories? At 300 per bottle, I’d rather have a taco.
6 - White Out

The winner of the 2nd DEWmocracy, this flavor beat out Distortion and Typhoon (which is coming back, by the way) to claim the title as the people’s choice. It reminds me of Fresca. I love Fresca.
5 - Baja Blast

Combine my favorite soda and my favorite restaurant?! YES, PLEASE! Taco Bell has exclusive rights to this tropical flavor. It’s the champagne of 4th Meal.
4 - Voltage

America voted this blue liquid as the winner of the first DEWmocracy, beating Supernova and Revolution. What’s interesting about this Dew, is that it includes ginseng - because Dew didn’t have enough caffeine already. I would drink 2 of these every Friday night when working night shifts at my job.
3 - Pitch Black

This flavor caught a bad rap when it was first released in the mid 00’s, but I loved it. I remember my college buddy buying cases of it and then selling individual cans to fans when it was pulled off the shelves, kinda like the recent Four Loko craze. The only exception is that Pitch Black didn’t taste like cancer and didn’t make anyone projectile vomit (as far as I know). I day dreamed about this flavor a few days ago and got a soda boner today when I found out It is returning in May 2011!!!
2 - Diet SuperNova

I had this for the first time just two weeks ago and was completely blown away. It was as if I tasted a flavor unknown to man. I never had the chance to try it when it was in the running during the first DEWmocracy, but now that it is “Back by popular DEWmand” in a hip new diet format, I am in love. Too bad my crappy Brooklyn neighborhood doesn’t carry it.
1 - Code Red

If I’m not mistaken, Code Red is the first flavor to break away from the regular Mountain Dew taste. I was in high school when it came out and I knew upon it hitting my lips for the first time, that this was a flavor to define my young adulthood. I drank this stuff as much as possible. Then I got fat. But y’know what? It’s even better in moderation. I don’t want to spoil myself. Code Red, you are the best Mountain Dew Flavor!
